Corporation & Barclays Pynes Hill,
Exeter, Devon Position:
Software Test Analyst Summary:
Test Analyst of the
Barclays Scarecrow Project at the 3rd party supplier site. The Scarecrow project has been implemented to
replace the original Fraud Risk Management System in Barclays Bank, where by
the application was designed to detect fraudulent activity throughout retail
outlets, across the UK on an hourly/daily basis. Barclays Bank required a
capability to perform actions/decisions on other systems automatically –
thereby automating tasks that would otherwise have to be done manually. This
would need to include suspending settlement of transactions, switching off
the refund facilities on terminals and in some cases, switching payment
terminals off completely. Testing
activities encompassed a new tailored release of ai Corporation’s core
application, a .NET windows desktop application developed in-house.
Working on site with the ai Corporation Development team, it was our role
(Myself/ Test Lead and Test Manager) to create full test coverage of the
upgraded software package, including various front-end, visual and functional
enhancements, back-end database and process changes (DB Stored Procedure
changes) and upgrades to core functionality, which was a rules based system
for interrogation/inspection of transaction data feeds, received from
Barclays. Due to a migration from Visual Basic to the Microsoft .NET
platform, regression testing was key to validate new functionality, as well
as ensuring new code releases created no adverse impacts on existing
functionality. Day-to-day
responsibilities:- §
Analyzing requirements and test case
design. §
Liaising closely with Business
Analysts and Development team in an iterative development environment. §
Writing SIT (System Integration

And Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) Morriston,
Swansea, South Wales Position:
System Test Analyst Summary:
DRP (Drivers
Re-engineering Project) Phase 2 included the launch of a Secure Government
transactional Web Application introducing online Driver License and Tax
applications. My
Main Tasks included functional/System testing of transactional front-end Web
Applications developed with Java web application frameworks, communicating
with an Oracle RDBMS backend. With the use of tools such as TOAD, SSH and HP
Quality Centre, testing is performed ensuring that all functional
requirements are met, including tests on Web Page behavior, transaction flow,
page content and visual characteristics across multiple browsers together
with backend checks after persistence of data to the relevant database schema
upon completion of different transactions. Test
coverage is achieved via the design of manual test scripts, and subsequent
regression test suites, during analysis of various requirements
documentation, including technical specifications, functional requirement specifications
(FRS), user interface specifications (UIS). Also, via information gathered
from workshops with the 3rd party suppliers, IBM/Fujitsu. All testing is carried
out while data is transferred and replicated between new Oracle platforms and
Legacy Mainframe systems. Therefore, an understanding of both platforms was
required. My
background knowledge at the agency allowed me to become proactively involved
with System Testing activities with the supplier test team, aswel as User
Acceptance Testing at later stages in the testing lifecycle, in collaboration
with the business testing team and end users. Day-to-day responsibilities:- § Requirements

Test Manager February 2005 to March 2006 Driver
And Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) Morriston,
Swansea, South Wales Position:
Data Migration Test Analyst Summary:
Test Analyst
working on Phase 1.0 of DRP Project (Drivers Re-engineering project) which involved the migration of driver and vehicle
data from IBM Mainframe to an Oracle RDBMS, together with the launch of
a web application front end providing internal staff access to Driver records
via a secure Intranet connection. My
main duties included data completeness testing from the source database to a
temporary ‘staging’ database, then post migration from staging to the target
database via complex ETL transformation/business logic. This work included
analysis and mapping of the existing system and test script creation and vast
manual checks to ensure the highest levels of data integrity post-migration
and to mitigate any risks to the business post “go-live” of the new system. This
testing also included Front-end Web Application testing i.e. Page behavior,
content and display quality aswel as data integrity testing to ensure all
records contained the correct information as per the data persisted in the
database. After initial sign off of the data migration and Staff Access
Portal, this eventually led to the development and testing of external B2B
access to Driver records held on the database, via a secure Extranet
Connection across GSI (Government Secure Intranet). This was designed to
allow driver data to be viewable to multiple government agencies within DFT
(Department For Transport) e.g. VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency),
amongst others. The majority of testing surrounding this aspect of the
system, covered mainly the implementation of data privacy and access rights
mechanisms to ensure that each external government agency were only able to
access aspects of Driver data, to which they were permitted to view. Day-to-day responsibilities: - · Requirements

Swansea, South Wales Position:
Print and Output Technician Summary:I first joined DVLA in December 2003 and joined the
Output and services group as a print and output technician working 3 shift
patterns (Mornings, afternoons and nights) where I joined a small team of
technicians producing all of DVLA’s mail output such as Driver Licenses,
Vehicle Licenses and payable orders. The
work involved operating high tech, Large volume output IBM and Kodak laser
printers via PC workstations where work batches were downloaded from the DVLA
driver and vehicle mainframe. With
the help of on-site and external engineers, any difficulties encountered with
print machinery/ Components has to be reported for quick resolution to limit
the impact on production volumes. All
output was ‘sample’ checked for quality of print, with all documents audited
and accounted for before reaching the public. Education Sept 2000/ August 2002 Coleg Sir Gar, Llanelli, Carmarthenshire ·
